Madden NFL 15 to Concentrate on Defense and Better Presentation

Madden NFL 15 looks to really concentrate on defense this year. This is great considering playing defense in recent years in my opinion has been sub-par. The last time I remember Madden really concentrating on defense was in Madden 2005 and that was one of the best Madden's ever made in my opinion. Not only was playing defense fun, it also made you better offensively because you played actual competitive defenses. Madden games lately are all offense with little concern on defense. It is also fitting that Richard Sherman will be on the cover with the concentration on defense.

There is also a defensive "tackle cone" that will help to make better tackles and somewhat change the way you play defense. Missing tackles was somewhat common in Madden 25 so the vision cone could change that. You can see the defensive "vision cone" in the picture above, it reminds me of the QB vision cone that made an appearance in Madden before but didn't go over so well and was later removed. It was a good idea and a decent idea but just didn't work out. Will the defensive "vision cone" revolutionize the way you play madden in defense, or will it go the way of the QB vision cone?

Madden 15 has also stepped up its game in the graphics and presentation department. There will be enhanced graphics with improved lighting, 3D grass, and richer details. From screenshots and videos so far, this year's version looks much better than Madden 25 already. Presentation-wise the game will feature authentic NFL-style broadcast with the help of former NFL Films senior cinematographer Brian Murray. There will also be some new broadcast elements that helps improve commentary and better pregame and halftime sequences.

The game will be released on August 26th. Here is the Madden NFL 15 fact sheet below...

Deliver on Defense

A New Point of View – See defense through a whole new lens with all-new camera angles that let you attack the play from the defensive’s perspective. Lock in on a single defender and go for the big play or follow the action wherever the ball goes.

Bring the Heat – Utilize a new set of pass rush tools to beat your blocker and disrupt the backfield. New mechanics to jump the snap, shed blocks and steer offensive linemen put your in control and make defensive linemen more powerful and versatile than ever.

Risk vs. Reward – Defenders can now make aggressive or conservative tackles in the open field, with proximity cones showing the effective range of each. Aggressive tackles can lead to big plays and fumbles, but conservative tackles are more likely to bring the ball-carrier down without giving up extra yards. The choice is yours, but so are the consequences.
