EA Sports UFC Info and Impressions So Far

EA Sports UFC is set to release June 17th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and we are finally learning a lot about what the game will be. There have been two game play videos recently released and EA has revealed the full roster. A lot of information is coming out about the game and with it only a few weeks away, most people are getting pretty excited about it. Let's take a look at the game play videos and what we know about the game up to this point.

Here is the first of the recently released game play videos, it is a full round of a fight between Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis. I must say that the graphics look pretty good and the audio is nice also. The in-fight commentary seems pretty fluid and I like how it all sounds together. The fighters seem to move pretty realistically for the most part in the ways they punch and kick but it seems like everything is moving too fast. If it was slowed down a little bit it would look a lot more realistic. There are also too many blows being exchanged in just one round, but I also realize that the game is supposed to be fun and that doesn't always mean it is "simulation." We didn't get to see any submissions in this video but that is addressed in the second game play video recently released by EA. I might prefer the game to be a little bit more towards the "sim" side but it is nice to have a balance between fun and sim so we will see how the game actually plays when released.

In the second recently released game play video, we are shown a fight between Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. This video shows strategic submission battles. It seems like the submission system will take a little bit to get used to be I think that overall it looks pretty good. Submissions are definitely a big part of Ultimate Fighting and need to be paid attention to. Having a ground game this is fun and takes skill is important for the game to be realistic, it seems like this submission system has the potential to do just that.

Career Mode Details:
You will be able to create your own fighter and this can be done using GameFace or starting a fighter from scratch and it seems like this will be fairly customizable. There are 10 different fighting styles you can choose for your fighter:

Boxer
Freestyle Wrestler
Greco-Roman Wrestler
Mixed Martial Artist
Jiu Jitsu
Judo
Karate
Kick Boxer
Muay Thai
Tae Kwon Do

After your CAF is finished, you will be taken to a tutorial to teach you the basics of the game. When that is completed you will then take place in "The Ultimate Fighter" and yes this is mandatory. If you lose one of your TUF fights, you will be forced to retry until you win to move on. This will be a good way for you to get used to the game and learn the controls. It will then be time to start your professional fighting career. You will do your best to level up, earn sponsors, and ultimately, attain Hall of Fame status.

Other Details:
There will be a demo for the game that is scheduled to be out before June 17th. EA Sports UFC will not be an annual release. It will be kept updated and will offer DLC. There will be some fighters added in for free and some will be paid DLC. Many of the fighters in the game will have there actual walkout songs but EA wasn't able to get the licensing for everyone's song. The game will feature Bruce Lee as the pre-order bonus fighter.
